Rethinking Large Class Teaching

What are your biggest hurdles in teaching large classes? Keeping students engaged, encouraging participation, navigating edtech, or something else? The larger the class size, the easier it is for students to slip into passive learning, lose motivation, or feel isolated, undermining their learning goals.

Join us to explore practical strategies for tackling common large-class challenges in this workshop. Focusing on two core themes—building community and active learning—we’ll unpack pedagogical approaches that foster rapport and encourage deeper learning. This session will provide a space to discuss experiences with your colleagues, as well as discover new ways to use edtech in large class contexts.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to:

• identify common barriers to student success in large classes
• describe pedagogical principles and strategies for effective learning in large classes
• explore edtech tools to enhance learning experiences in large classes
• propose solutions to large class teaching challenges
