HKUST has been offering Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on Coursera since 2013. MOOCs allow you to explore new fields out of interest, develop new skills for work and connect with millions of learners from the comfort of your seat.
HKUST students and staff can have free access to two of their programs. You can get full access to courses in the program catalogs, interact with other students from all over the world and earn a free certificate upon course completion.

For students and staff who have NOT participated in any of the programs above, you can join the program directly using your ITSC credential. Here are the steps:
- Go to the program page and click on “Join”
- In the “Log In” box, click on at the top of the box
- On the HKUST credential page, enter your @connect.ust.hk or @ust.hk account and password (DO NOT use your email alias)
- Once you have joined the program, you can start browsing the course catalog and enroll in any courses that interest you.
- If you want to earn free certificates, make sure you complete the requirements set out by the course instructors.
It's worth noting that these courses are non-credit bearing. They are intended for your personal interest and development only, but that doesn't make them any less exciting.
