Last December, the university launched our first self-study online course on Special Educational Needs (SEN). We are now excited to announce the second course, which explores various types of SEN, including hearing impairments, physical disabilities, mental and neurodevelopmental disorders, chronic illnesses, visual and speech impairments, and practical strategies to address these needs.

This series is a collaboration between the Dean of Students Office at HKUST and Hong Kong Baptist University. The third course, focusing on designing an inclusive campus, will be available next year.

SEN-001 | Integrated Education and Related Ordinances in Hong Kong

Acquire the knowledge and strategies necessary to foster inclusivity and create an inclusive learning environment under Hong Kong Education and Ordinances. Topics covered include equal opportunities, disability discrimination, integrated education, reasonable accommodation, individualized support, disclosure of disabilities, and disability etiquette.

SEN-002 | Understanding Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Academic Adjustments

Learn about the different types of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and practical strategies to support them. Topics include hearing impairments, physical disabilities, mental and neurodevelopmental disorders, chronic illnesses, visual impairments, and speech and language difficulties.

Upon completing the course, you will earn a micro-credential in the form of an online badge from the Academy of Education Excellence (AEE) at HKUST. Don't miss these opportunities to advance your teaching skills, earn micro-credentials, and become part of the Academy of Education Excellence at HKUST. Let's make education inclusive and extraordinary for all!
