This Pedagogy in Practice series focuses on learning through collaboration, exploring how purposeful structures and pedagogical approaches can transform group work into meaningful learning experiences. The series highlights how collaboration can be intentionally designed to help students learn with and from one another, engage with different perspectives, and work toward shared goals. Through practical frameworks, classroom examples, facilitated discussion, and reflection, you will examine how to design, support, and adapt effective collaboration to your teaching context.

Implementing Team Charters to Safeguard Student Projects

	Dr Betty Lin Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Education (Retired) Betty is an interdisciplinary scholar-practitioner bridging Silicon Valley engineering, executive leadership, and higher education innovation. From 2012 to 2026, she served as Associate Professor and Associate Director of the Technology & Management Dual-Degree Program at HKUST, where she designed industry-integrated experiential curricula. Her empirical research demonstrates that her problem-based, consulting-led pedagogy accelerates critical thinking, yielding cognitive gains over one term comparable to four years of traditional undergraduate education. Over 14 years of project-based instruction, Betty adapted industry-standard engagement frameworks into a robust, faculty-ready Team Charter methodology, offering a field-tested blueprint to help instructors scale accountable student collaboration.
