Integrated Platform to Support Aircraft Design and Performance Analysis

Integrated Platform to Support Aircraft Design and Performance Analysis

Project Leader: Prof Rhea LIEM, Prof Stephane REDONNET
School: School of Engineering
Department: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE)
Project Start Year: 2019/20
Description:

The primary objective of the present project is therefore to refurbish the aircraft design course to make it more interactive, with novel ways to instill interests in students and for them to gain the design intuition, while making it fun and engaging. This will be achieved by setting up an integrated, comprehensive, and yet easy-to-use simulation platform. This simulation platform will be composed of various software (to-be pre-determined upon their respective mertis). Each software will be pre-calibrated (for an immediate and easy handling by students) as well as coupled to the others (for multidisciplinary projects such as aircraft design). In longer term, the project team envision to extend the teaching strategy (project based) and means (simulation platform) developed in this project, so as to benefit other (MECH 3670) could be integrated later (on e.g. Aircraft Structures, MECH 3650) etc.
