Department: Division of Integrative Systems and Design (ISD)
Funding Year: 2023/24
Description:

This project is developing an open-source metaverse platform for metaverse education which addresses the limitations of closed proprietary platforms. The platform features self-paced learning modules covering avatar creation, virtual worlds, multi-user interaction, offline content making, blockchain ownership models, and user experience principles. The modular design incorporates hands-on interactive exercises for students to take ownership of their learning and actively engage in the process. After evaluative measures, this platform will be used in three courses related to metaverse and interaction design to help students learn abstract concepts in an active learning environment. The long-term goal of this project is for the platform to be used across disciplines to foster comprehension of foundational metaverse principles.
