Blended Learning Workshops | FALL 2022
Facilitating our students to achieve higher levels of learning
Technologies nowadays have transformed our lives in every aspect. The pandemic drove us towards the adoption of flexible online teaching. This includes the use of online lectures, online assessments, and other digital means. But how can we use them more effectively? How can we maximize the benefits of both online and face-to-face to help our students achieve higher levels of learning?
The workshops will address the above questions using the principles of Blended Learning (BL) and plenty of design scenarios. As part of this approach, you will also learn different ways of developing effective instructional videos.
At the end of the session, you will be able to:
- explain the principle behind Blended Learning (BL) at HKUST
- use the Backward Design approach to derive a course desig plan with constructive alignment
- describe the development process of a BL course at HKUST
Please note that Session 1 is a prerequisite of Session 2.
At the end of the session, you will be able to:
- derive effective production approaches for instructional videos
- determine effective in-class activities to help students apply their knowledge
- recall other resources to support BL at HKUST
All faculty members are welcome to join the workshops!
he workshops will be delivered via Zoom with time for Q&A.
The workshops will be facilitated by CEI Instructional Designers Amy Chong, Sue Hu and Isaac Wan, who have a wide range of experience in Blended Learning course design and development at HKUST. They are part of CEI’s Technology-enhanced Teaching team, which promotes the adoption of instructionally sound technologies in teaching and learning.
