Both MOOC platforms provide analytics that show student demographics and data on learner activities to help course instructors monitor how learners are doing. Instructors can use such data to evaluate course components and learners’ performance, and inform decisions when improving the design of course components and user experience.

HKUST has been offering Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on Coursera since 2013. MOOCs allow you to explore new fields out of interest, develop new skills for work and connect with millions of learners from the comfort of your seat.

HKUST has established partnerships with two leading MOOC platforms - Coursera and edX. These platforms provide a convenient way for instructors to create and deliver online courses, while also enabling learners from all over the world to access higher education.

As part of the efforts to create and establish good models for Blended Learning (BL) courses at HKUST, all of the current BL courses take part in an evaluation process. Data is collected from all stakeholders and analyzed to highlight good practices, challenges and areas for improvements.

To help students achieve specific learning objectives, sometimes we may need to design and develop customized learning objects for interactive learning or assessment purposes. CEI will assist faculty and teaching staff in their approved projects to design, prototype and develop customized interactive learning objects. These learning objects can be deployed on Canvas as well as the MOOC platforms such as Coursera and edX.
