Description
Canvas Discussions is a Canvas feature that allows interactive communication between instructors and students. Discussion topics can be created for information sharing or collaboration. Discussion can be with the entire class or in small groups.
This tool supports explorative and evaluative learning styles where students can reflect on questions, search for information to solve problems, and process information. This feature is available on the Canvas course site.

Functionality
- Enables discussions to be graded and integrated with the Gradebook
- Discussions can be organised as focused or threaded discussions
- Allows students to share resources like documents, recorded media, links to external resources, etc.
Usage
For instruction: Create a pinned discussion on general Q&As. You can use this to post any updates on course materials and other requirements.
For instruction: Create a group discussion for students to introduce themselves at the beginning of the semester, sharing their interests, hobbies, etc.
For online activities: Create a graded discussion on weekly topics and set a due date in preparation for the in-class session. This can be created beforehand and set on a defined date.
