Project Leader: Cathy PAN
School: School of Humanities & Social Science
Department: Humanities (HUMA)
Project Start Year: 2021/22
Description:

This project endeavors to revamp the existing large-scale humanities course HUMA1000 Cultures and Values in response to, and in alignment with the adoption of the new Common Core (CC) framework by the University. It regards HUMA1000A Language, Communication, and Society as the basis to remodel the structure of the course, and attempts to shift the focus of capacity-building from traditional essay-writing towards a small-scale, experiential learning approach. By integrating concrete experience into humanities knowledge and understanding, it aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-life practice and encourage students to experience “cultures and values” by approaching, observing, and partaking in cultures through project-based work, and to make sense of such experience with close reference to the concepts and theories introduced in the course, which are drawn from multiple disciplinaries.
