New Faculty Orientation Program
Each August and January, the Center for Education Innovation hosts a comprehensive orientation program tailored for new faculty at HKUST. This program introduces the pivotal aspects of teaching and learning within the university's context, offering insights into the undergraduate curriculum, student demographics, and the array of tools and resources available to support faculty in their teaching roles. The orientation includes compulsory sessions for all new faculty, along with optional deep-dive sessions into specialized topics.
University Teaching and Learning (UTL) Program
The University Teaching and Learning (UTL) Program is an essential initiative for all new assistant professors and lecturers engaged in teaching at the University. As part of the Academy of Education Excellence's micro-credentials, this program aims to equip early-career faculty with fundamental skills in university teaching and learning.
Focusing on critical areas such as learning theories, course design, assessment techniques, student engagement, and group work facilitation, the UTL Program ensures participants build a robust foundation. These skills are essential for delivering a high-quality learning experience to students, setting the stage for academic success and innovation in teaching practices.
