Seminar – Explore the Steps to Mixed Mode Teaching!

The world-wide pandemic caught everyone off-guard, leaving us all no choice but to adapt and do so quickly! We thank you for your agility and hard work to provide students with our best!
Moving forward, we know the new normal means uncertainty and perhaps if the situation allows one day, being prepared for classes to gradually go back to normal with strict social distancing measures in place.
To better prepare us for any situation, and to meet student demands, the university would like to introduce you to Mixed Mode teaching. This is when a teacher is facilitating a live class of online students and in-class students at the same time, which can provide the flexibility to accommodate students overseas and follow safety precautions for faculty and students on campus.
Mixed Mode teaching was carried out by some colleagues this year and based on their experience, we would like to share how it can be adapted for your course (when the situation allows). If you’re interested, please join us to learn more about how to deliver Mixed Mode teaching:
- What is Mixed Mode and other flexible options
- Pedagogy with sample lesson plans
- Equipment and classroom set-up
All faculty are welcome to join, even if you’re just curious!
Date: 17 September 2020 (THU)
Time: 12:30PM – 2:00PM
Registration Closed.
The seminar will be facilitated by CEI Instructional Designers Amy Chong, Bee Dy and Chris Tse. Amy, Bee and Chris have rich experience supporting live online teaching at HKUST. They are part of CEI’s Technology-enhanced Teaching team, which promotes the adoption of instructionally sound technologies in teaching and learning.
